PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases)

Symptoms of:

• Fever
• Lower abdominal Pain
• Adnexal tenderness
• Cervical Excitation
• Deep Dyspareunia
• Discharge PV

Causative organism:

1. Neisseria
2. Chlamydia
3. Anerobes
4. Mycoplasma
5. TB

Investigations:

Urine Routine 

Urine Nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) 

Endocervical & Vaginal Swabs

Wet mount

KOH stain

USG

Laparoscopy (Gold Standard)

Complications:

• Sepsis
• Ectopic 
• Infertility
• Tubal Abscess
• Chronic Pain

Treatment Regimen:

1. Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM + Doxy 100 or Metro 400 PO BID for 14 days
2. Ofloxacin 400 mg + Metro 400 mg PO BID for 14 days

Reassess in 72 hours

Test for partners

Abstinence for 14 days
